Leaf Pickup             

Leaf pickup crews will pass through your street only once.
Please do not park on the streets during the scheduled pickup date.
No bagging is necessary.
Please sweep leaves into the street no sooner than the day before the pickup.  
Please take notice of the following dates.

Donate Used Furniture and Household Items

You can donate household items, furniture or beds in good condition.  St Peter of Alcantara on Port Blvd has an outreach program and can arrange for items to be picked up.  Please call 883-0365

Dumpsters

Please remember that if you are having work done at your house and require a dumpster, it must be placed in your driveway.

Garbage Etiquette

Please be considerate to your neighbors.  Please remember the following.
Do not place garbage at the curbside until after 6 PM on the night before pickup.
Do not place garbage on curbside on Friday night or Saturday for a Monday pick-up.
Please keep garbage in sealed garbage cans because of the stray cats and raccoon problems.
Big items (furniture, appliances etc) are only picked-up on Fridays.  
Yard waste is picked-up on Mondays.

Lawn Watering Times        

No watering between 10 AM through 4 PM
Even numbered house addresses can water on even calendar dates
Odd numbered house addresses can water on odd calendar dates

Master Plan Report

The Village hired JAC Planning Corp. (Great Neck) to study the Lewis Oil Property and the Dallas Realty Property (aka 41 acres) and development of the Village.  The report was to demonstrate how every potential future use of the properties would impact the Village.  The draft report is due in Early November.

New Deputy Clerk

Port North is pleased to announce that Ms. Linda Kropacek (pronounced Kropack) has taken over Yvonne Whitcomb's position as Deputy Clerk.  She has worked for Manorhaven for the past six years and has been the Treasurer of Great Neck Estates.  She is married with two children and is a life-long resident of Port Washington.

New Signs

The Village is in the process of having several wooden signs made up.  The attractive wooden signs will be placed at the many entrances to the Village.  The First sign was place at Mill Pond near Fleet Bank.

No Parking in Front of Blockbuster

PLEASE DO NOT PARK YOU CAR IN FRONT OF THE DROP BOX AT BLOCKBUSTER.  Please take the time to park in a designated parking spot and walk to the drop box.  Parking cars in this area is a dangerous situation, as traffic leaving the Soundview parking lot must swerve into on-coming traffic to avoid the illegally parked cars.

Noise Ordinance        

Please be considerate to your neighbors.  Tell your contractors and lawn crews the following times for working.
Monday through Friday, no work before 8:30 AM
Saturday, no work before 9:00 AM
Sunday, no work before 10:00 AM

Pool Permits

Please remember that your pool needs to be inspected yearly.  The inspection will check the following:
To ensure that the self closing/self latching gates are operational.
To ensure that there is a continuous enclosure around the pool.

Repaving Dock Lane and Fisherman Drive

Plans are being drawn up by the Village Engineer to resurface Dock and Fisherman.  The Village hopes the work will happen in the early Fall.

Please keep your cars off the streets when it snows or when snow is in the forecast.

Speed Bumps

Speed bumps will be installed from 81A Radcliff Avenue down to Soundview and from Radcliff Avenue down to Shore Road.  

Before the work is done, a mailing will be sent out to the entire village, including Police, Donno (garbage) and the Fire Department

Street Lights

If you notice a street light that is out, please do the following.  
Note the streetlight number located on the lamppost
Call Lighting Maintenance (under contract with the Village) at 883-8855.  
Lighting Maintenance is located on Avenue A in Port Washington and should be able to fix the problem.

Street Sweeping 1999

Street Sweeping will resume on April 27, 2000.  Street sweeping will take place on alternate Thursdays starting from this date. Please keep your cars off the streets on these days.

Toy Drive                         

Following the successful toy drives of the past couple of years, the Village is again collecting gently-used or new toys to be distributed by INN (Interfaith Nutrition Network) at Chanukah and Christmas to bring some pleasure to homeless children on Long Island.  INN's wil also accept

Jackets
Gently Used Toys
New Toys
Toothpaste & Toothbrushes (new)
Razors and Shaving Cream
Deodorant, Soap, Shampoo
Disposable Diapers
New Underwear and Socks

Items can be dropped off at Village Hall between 9 AM & 3 PM
